2nd edition of CHTHONIC is taking place Friday, 24, and Saturday, 25 November, at IKLECTIK and Ormside Projects on Saturday night from 11:30 pm.
Deriving from the Greek word “χθών”, a more direct translation of Chthonic would be “χθόνιος” which means “under, or beneath the earth”. CHTHONIC II seeks to engage with the darker elements of experimental sound and performance whilst fostering an alternative environment open to self-expression for both our audience and performers.
Our first evening explores ritual practices and contemporary queer performance culture. Commissioned by IKLECTIK, Future Ritual presents their latest piece of work, “A Felling”, a journey through ideas surrounding death, remembrance, transformation and rebirth.
Our second event sees us inviting four experimental acts all at the forefront of their respective fields, whilst the third event takes the IKLECTIK programme out of the traditional venue environment and into the late night club context of Ormside Projects.
